Registration
The registration process is easy but has the tendency to be time-consuming because of the many questions asked and choices to make. Since it’s designed mainly for Jewish singles, almost 98 percent of the questions pertain to the faith such as the Jewish denomination you belong to. You also need to provide a phone number, perhaps to prevent scammers on the website. If there’s one good thing, it’s the fact you don’t need to go to your email to activate your membership link. As soon as you’re done with the initial profile information, the website redirects you to the dashboard. Note: the website performs a profile review, although it indicates it doesn’t do background checks.
Profile
The answers to the initial questions will form part of your profile. You also need to provide an About Me and a photo, although you can add both later. Note, though, the lesser information you have, the lesser the chances are your chances of getting a lot of matches. To further customize your profile, you can fill out details about your Jewish practice and life, build a photo album, and answer short essays. Again, it takes a lot of time, but it improves your chances of getting a good match.
Matches
The platform immediately matches you to people who have similar profile information as you such as your location, Jewish denomination, age, build, and height. You can customize your search to reveal only those members with photos, those who live near you, and age. You can also look for people who recently logged in.
The platform also has a feature called My Location, which filters members to those within your vicinity. This can significantly limit your searches, so if you want to see more profiles, you need to add more places. Sometimes too the system gives you members with no photos even if you indicate it in the Search filter, which can be frustrating.

The communication options are limited, especially if you’re a free member since you cannot send an e-mail, although you can receive one.

JWed is a simple-looking but clean website. It doesn’t overwhelm you with a lot of pictures, and the basic features you’re looking for such as Search, Profile, and special functions are so accessible. Photos tend to be small, but they’re clear. You can also find shortcut links to important features like Favorites and Add Photos, which is a nifty touch.
Special Features
There are some good special features found in JWed. One is the Profile Highlight, which makes you more prominent during searches. There is also My Travel Plans, where you can list down the places you’re going to. This can expand your matches further, allowing you to connect with people who are in these destinations. Although it sounds great, it may not sit well with those who still want to maintain a certain level of privacy.
If you’re a new member, you will find the Note to Self feature in every profile incredibly helpful. It acts like a comment box where you can write down your thoughts and questions about a potential match. The ability to select whether you’re interested or not of the profile effectively streamlines searches while you can add people you wish to connect soon in the My Favorites list.
Cost
JWed only has four plans: 1 Month ($24.95/month), 3 Months ($54, $18/month), 6 Months ($89.70, $14.95/month), and 12 Months ($155.40, $12.95/month). Plans can also be free, standard, and plus, although it’s unclear which one is which. This is important as features available can vary among these plans. For example, Plus Members can reach inactive members and use Profile Highlight.
